On June 27, Balloon Vehicle Research Center, Academy of Opto-electronics, Chinese Academy of Sciences completed flight test of airship KF13 successfully in a flight base in Changping District, Beijing, and smoothly passed the acceptance by the Project General Department. Representatives of the customers and the science and technology research units such as Research and Development Center of Microsystem Technology of CAS, Institute of Microsystem and Information Technology of CAS, Audio Visual Center of CAS, Chinese Society of Aeronautics and Astronautics etc, observed the demonstration flight.
The main purpose of the flight is to demonstrate the comprehensive superiority of CAS and the achievements related to LTA vehicles, such as design and manufacture, propelling and flight control, battery technology, electro-optic payloads, system integration and testing etc. The acceptance test shows that the airship has the qualifications to participate in the system testing that will be organized by the Project General Department.
The successful flight of airship KF13 showed the advantages of airship platform such as safety, stability and location capability in the field of aviation-earth observation, and broad application prospects.
