In order to improve our scientific research personnel and students' skills in the technical research and literature retrieval, an nformation resource lecture by national science library (NSL for short) is jointly held by new technology office and general office at the Earth hall of Jiuzhang building on April 27th. Xiaowei, Yang, Yonghong, Xiao, and Li, Wang, coming from subject consultancy services of NSL, CAS, are specially invited to give lectures about how to use the existing library, information, and the network resources for scientific research. To facilitate all communications, on-site demonstration and vie-to-answer are arranged during the lectures' process. The main contents of the lecture include:

1. Introductions to the resouces and service of NSL: including the common resources of photoelectric domain, document delivery and inter-library loan, e-key, desktop e-tools, online literature search service, and the latest version of endnote;

2. How to search and use special literature: including the common defense industry resources and dissertation, standard, patent, conference papers and other special literature;

3: ISI web of specific applications and SCI, EI platform of retrieval techniques: Using the ISI platform for scientific research process, such as defining the study field, tracking authoritative experts and SDI , etc. In SCI and EI database, how to do a quick retrieval of the inclusion and quotation of your papers.

This lecture has not only provided a variety of technical investigating and literature searching methods, but also offered a good face-to-face opportunity to communicate with teachers, and got consistent high praise. Through the patient guidance of teachers, the problems about literature retrieval are solved, and the skill and efficiency of information retrieval are improved, which provide a convenient, quick and efficient way to the future smooth literature retrieval .
